Welcome from Shropshire chairman Edward Bedell
In Shropshire we believe in developing cameraderie amongst our members.
To this end we run monthly “Unplugged” meetings in the “Cock Hotel/Old Wrekin Tap” pub in Telford. These are themed with topical subjects, such as “cloud computing” or "HTML 5". These subjects are often first introduced by an expert guest speaker and then offered up for round table debate. These events have not only developed knowledge amongst our membership but also generated a great deal of business and collaboration.
The events are usually based around a selected IT theme but we end up discussing an eclectic range of related subjects. We also run more formal 'plus' events where we invite potential customer and buyer groups. We welcome anyone interested in IT, you don't have to a member or be running an IT company to come along!
Also in Shropshire we have developed a strong relationship with BCS Shropshire with two UKITA Shropshire committee members also on the BCS Shropshire committee. This relationship is proving incredibly well-matched with UKITA championing the professionalism of businesses while the BCS champions the professionalism of individuals. We look forward to meeting you at one of our UKITA Unplugged meetings in the near future!
The Shropshire Branch is actively seeking new members and there are opportunities to get involved with building up UKITA activities in all parts of the county. Please get in touch if you'd like to be a part of this process...
