What's in it for you?
Events
If there is an active branch in your area, you will be invited by the branch Chair to attend branch meetings where you will find yourself welcomed by and mixing 2with people who run their own small and medium sized businesses. These are people with a wealth of experience and contacts in the IT, digital design and internet business world. The fact that they are UKITA members means they know the value of connections and our branch events are friendly and informal, where our members will be curious about your studies and your technical skills and you just might meet your future employer or someone who would like to hire you over the summer.
CV Benefits
HR people and recruiters look for a lot more more than "can work well on my own or in a team" and a string of technology acronyms and terminology. They look for people who can show evidence of doing more than just what was required to get the qualification. Your UKITA student/graduate affiliate membership is one more thing that can jump our from a pile of CVs and give you a chance to talk at interviews about your initiative and resourcefulness in taking action to get involved with IT industry people even before your first formal IT job.
