BC Offline: A Wing Wah Winner
20th October 2007

What could be worse than going to a networking event on a cold night in Wolverhampton, with a group of people from the ICT industry, when England are on the telly trying to secure a place in the 2008 Euro Championship finals?.....well quite a lot it would seem.

The first of many social networking events being arranged by the Black Country Branch of WMita under the name Black Country Offline was launched successfully at the Wing Wah Chinese Restaurant on Wednesday 17 October. Although Bob Boyd (CEO of WMita) could not make it, at least he was there in spirit!

20 pioneers followed the invitation to 'Turn off, Turn up and Tune in' and enjoyed a night of lively discussion and banter with many new faces: half the attendees were non-WMita members and liked what they saw.

At one point it was rumoured that the notorious Black Country Worm had wriggled his / her way into the event too, but the mystery UKITA forum blogger kept themselves incognito for fear of causing mass hysteria with potential autograph hunting fans.

Sharon Talbot, Committee Member from Blue Orange Marketing said "it's been a brilliant night, shame I didn't get time for a second helping of dessert, but there were just too many people I wanted to talk to"

The next Black Country Offline event will be held in January. Have your say on what the event should be by posting your thoughts on the UKITA forum. Alternatively just book yourself onto the event when details are announced on the website.

The next formal Branch event will be how to 'Pimp Your Home Page' on Friday 23rd November at Wolverhampton racecourse - see website for full details. Again, if you have ideas for formal events please let committee members know via the forum or the good old fashioned phone.
