Member profile for iCentrum

Profile
iCentrum is a project established by
Advantage West Midlands (AWM). The objective
for iCentrum is to facilitate the growth of
SMEs in the ICT sector within the region.

Part of AWMs ICT
Cluster activity, iCentrum provides
information on new and emerging technologies
in ICT so that members can use this
knowledge to improve productivity and reduce
lead times. iCentrum also introduces
members to like-minded organisations,
industry leaders, education establishments,
research institutes and government
departments for their mutual benefit.

iCentrum also provides the latest test
and quality assurance facilities for its’
members in the form of Solution Development
Laboratory based at Aston Science Park.
Here members have access to a range of:
• hardware platforms
• LANs
• Operating systems (proprietary and
open source)
• thin client
• toolsets (productivity and
application).

In addition, members of iCentrum have
the ability to promote their products to the
end user community using iCentrum’s
specially designed Demonstration Suite
through a series of seminars and showcase
events working with other organisations like
UK IT Association (UKITA),
Business Link, New Technology Institute and
the Learning & Skill Council.

iCentrum focus on four key areas:
• growth
• information
• communication
• technology

Growth
Our members profit through
collaboration with other members and
organisations while our professional
Demonstration Suite and meeting rooms are
the ideal facilities to use. Our members
also benefit from showcase events organised
by iCentrum.

Information
Converting data into information is
fundamental to a company’s success and
iCentrum will provide, collect and filter
data from a broad spectrum of public,
private and voluntary sector sources
including Advantage West Midlands, higher
educational institutes, research
organisations plus local ICT companies.

Communication
Members will benefit from the dissemination
of relevant information from appropriate
businesses and research organisations in the
form of targeted seminar programmes managed
by iCentrum. Also, the ability to network
with other members will prove extremely
valuable to the wider ICT Community.

Technology
Discovering and understanding new and
emerging technologies is critical to the
success of ICT businesses. The use of these
technologies will enable ICT companies in
the West Midlands to remain at the forefront
of an already competitive market. iCentrum
facilitates that knowledge through its links
to the large corporate software and hardware
developers as well as government funded
training organisations.
