Profile
Encription limited are "ethical hackers" based in Worcestershire, but operating on a world wide basis. Clients include local government, building societies, web developers, large and small corporates; encription also work with the Police.
Encription Limited will fully test and report on the security of a company's IT systems, web site(s)and employees. They work to BS7799/ISO7001 standards and sit on several IT security advisory boards.
All of their consultants have a minumum qualification of CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker).
The tools used by encription's ethical hackers are the same as those used by the malicious hacker (except encription use a few more as well).
The testing can be carried out as a "black box test", that is to say they are told nothing except the company name, or as a "white box test", in which case details of equipment and operating systems are divulged.
There are three major areas of weakness in IT security. Staff, who can inadvertantly give away confidential information, including passwords. Web sites, which are developed for appearance and performance and not for security, and the network.
Staff can be trained in security awareness in half a day. The web site and newtork can be regulary tested and secured.
Encription has developed its own verification system, "encription verified".
Companies who are regularly tested and found to be secure by encription can display this accreditation in their office and on their web site.
