Access Keys

Access Keys are keyboard shortcuts that are intended to help users who have difficulty in using pointing devices, such as a mouse.
This website uses the UK government access key system. The following information details each of the keyboard shortcut commands available to you.

Depending on your browser type use one of the following:

  • Internet Explorer for Windows: Hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key, then press ENTER.
  • Internet Explorer for Mac: Hold down the CTRL key and select the number/letter of the access key.
  • Netscape: Hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key.
  • Mozilla: Hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key.
  • Note: Access keys may not be compatible with some older versions of browsers.

Text Size

If you are having difficulty reading any of the text you can increase the size of the text through your browser. Increasing text size in Internet Explorer version 5 or above

  • go to the "View" menu at the top of the browser
  • select "Text Size" and choose a size

Increasing the text size in Netscape 4

  • go to the "View" menu at the top of the browser
  • select "Increase Font" and repeat until the text is the size you would like

Increasing the text size in Netscape version 6 or above

  • go to the "View" menu at the top of the browser
  • select "Text Size" or "Text Zoom" and choose a size
