Run by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), the iawards aim to recognise and celebrate the best British achievements in science, technology and innovation. Sponsors include Siemens & Microsoft.
The aim is to put the spotlight on new technologies and innovations, showing how they can translate into the innovative products and services that improve our daily lives. They will stimulate commercial interest, as well as helping to bridge the gap between business and the general public. For full details visit the iawards website here Why are they important now? The awards are particularly relevant in the present economic climate. Britain can only compete globally - and create more jobs - if it invests in innovation associated with science and technology, and benefits from the high added value this brings. James Caan from Dragons Cen fame shares the view that firms that invest in R&D will be best placed to survive the current recession - and that innovation must be the driver of our economy in the years ahead. How do you get involved? There are 13 categories. Businesses and organisations can nominate themselves for an iaward 1. The iaward for Life Sciences. 2. The iaward for Transport. 3.
