In 2001 the West Midlands IT Association (WMita) was established as the private sector organisation responsible for the development of a credible and thriving IT industry within the West Midlands. Building on this success the United Kingdom IT Association (UKita) was launched in 2006. The primary focus of the organisation being to encourage the growth of small and medium sized businesses (SME's) through the provision of training, the delivery of business networking opportunities and by promoting the credentials and image of the industry in general. It is an elite band of some of the finest IT specialists in each of the regions of the UK. Member companies work together across a variety of product and service sectors, providing high quality and sustainable services and value for money solutions to their clients. In 2007 the Pan European ICT & eBusiness Network for SME (PIN-SME) was created to represent the interests of Europe’s ICT SME sector; UKita was a founding member and the UK's formal representative. 2009 will see the roll out of a re-branded UKITA and more importantly more benefits for members via a new interactive website; members are at the very heart of the association and everything we do - all actions lead to MB4U (More Business For You). UKITA continues to represent the UK IT supply chain in Europe via membership of PIN-SME. Evolution of UKITA |
